The newly built tram line to Jiyang District (Start-up Area) is Jinan’s first cross-Yellow River urban rail transit line to commence construction. The line is approximately 36.1 kilometers long, with 16 stations (including 2 reserved stations). It starts at Jinan East Railway Station, running along Fenghuang Road, Huanghe Avenue, G220, and other roads, ending at Jiyang North Railway Station, passing through Licheng District, the Start-up Area, and Jiyang District. The project utilizes underground, surface, and elevated construction methods, crossing the Yellow River via a reserved bridge on the Jinan Yellow River Fenghuang Bridge, and includes the construction of the Jiyang North Depot. It is listed as a key provincial and municipal project.
Construction began on September 27, 2022, with the first phase of construction carried out from June to November 2023, during which 70% of the civil engineering work was completed. The line uses DC750 power supply and 60R2 slotted rails, with a maximum operating speed of 70 km/h. Initially, the trains consist of three cars, each carrying approximately 130 passengers. The first section of ballastless track was laid in November 2023, and the underground shallow trench section in Jiyang adopted the first open-cut prefabrication and assembly process in China.
