“The track roughness quality index (TQI) is as low as 4.75 mm.” The East Extension Project of Nanchang Metro Line 2 has successfully achieved a technical breakthrough in the smoothness of the metro track with a number of innovative technologies, achieving “millimeter-level” track smoothness at an operating speed of 80 kilometers per hour, bringing citizens a smoother and more comfortable travel experience.
The East Extension Project of Nanchang Metro Line 2 is an important part of Nanchang’s urban rail transit network. The line starts from Xinjia’an Station and extends eastward to Nanchang East Station. Along the way, it passes through 9 stations including Lengshang Station, Chengnan Avenue Station, and Lixiang Station. The total length of the line is about 10.42 kilometers.

In order to improve the measurement accuracy of the metro track, the project team adheres to the construction concept of “high standards and zero defects” and adopts advanced CPIII track control network precision measurement technology to comprehensively and systematically measure, analyze and adjust the static geometric dimensions of the track, and increase the measurement error to the millimeter level to improve the smoothness of train operation. The project also uses the domestically advanced “track laying method” construction technology and electric normalizing long rail welding technology to reduce construction safety risks and improve project quality and construction efficiency.

During the construction process, the project implemented full-process quality control, reversed the construction schedule, strengthened on-site supervision and expert on-site guidance, and achieved close connection between site handover, track laying, track area management and other links, ensuring the construction progress and quality. In terms of material and process selection, the project uses environmentally friendly building materials and shock-absorbing ballast, and combines a variety of shock-absorbing technologies to effectively reduce the impact of noise on surrounding residents.

Behind the achievements are the hard work of hundreds of builders. They push the fine-tuning trolley in the tunnel, walk an average of 20,000 steps a day, measure, adjust, and polish thousands of times, just to adjust every detail to the best state. They are the “track guards” on the front line of tough work, interpreting the style of workers with sweat and ingenuity.

After the completion and opening of the East Extension Project of Nanchang Metro Line 2, it will connect the three major comprehensive transportation hubs of Nanchang West Station, Nanchang Railway Station and Nanchang East Station, which will be of great significance in alleviating urban traffic pressure, strengthening regional connections and promoting urban development.
