As a replacement for the RN, it solves the problems presented by the track assembled with the set consisting of the RS sleeper and the RN fastening, especially with regard to the electrical insulation between its two threads and the conservation of its width.
It fully resolves the first one, even in unfavorable weather conditions, and almost completely cancels the variation in track width caused by the RN clamping, although of course it cannot have the same effect on the width variation caused by the rotation of the heads of the sleepers, as a consequence of their seats and the lack of rigidity of the metal brace that joins them.
As an improvement to the P-2 fastening, it prevents eventual contact of the metal plate with the plastic part by interposing support steps on the upper face of the part. In this way, the plate will not transmit all the vertical forces to the plastic part. It also presents greater resistance to lateral forces than the old P-2 fastening system.
