Ge’ermu Ku’erle Railway is a Class I national railway electrified railway connecting Golmud City, Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, and Korla City, the capital of Bayingolin Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in China. It is an important part of the northwest railway network framework in China, and is praised as the “Desert New Silk Road”.

The construction of Ge Ku Railway was started on December 28, 2014, the track laying work of Qinghai Section was started on May 26, 2017, the track laying work of Xinjiang Section was started on June 3, 2017, and the Qinghai Section was put into operation on June 30, 2020.

Gekku Railway is from Golmud Station to Korla Station. The total length of the main line is 1213.7 km, including 505.6 km in Qinghai and 708.1 km in Xinjiang. The design speed is 120 km/h.

On December 9, 2020, the Geku Railway from Korla in Xinjiang to Golmud in Qinghai, a national key railway construction project that took six years to build, was put into operation.

At 17:40 on November 27, 2021, a freight train full of cotton yarn and cotton meal left Korla Railway Station and headed for Yibin North, Sichuan, Dalang, Guangdong and other stations, marking that the cargo volume of Golmud Korla Railway exceeded 10 million tons.
